Sandy Hawks Drop Both Duals Saturday

CONWAY, S.C. – UNCW closed out its weekend with a pair of 5-0 losses to nationally-ranked Stetson and host Coastal Carolina on Saturday at the CCU Beach Volleyball Complex.

The Seahawks fell to 2-6 on the season after going 1-3 on the weekend.

"The matches did not go our way today," said UNCW Associate head Coach David Fischer. "Plenty of things to work on the next couple weeks and still grateful that we are able to compete safely, and that we have such strong competition just down the road in Coastal Carolina and Charleston."

Against Coastal Carolina (2-2), Tyla Cutrie and Ellie Bucci lost in three sets to Carli Ginther and Emma Gonzalez.

In the day's opening dual, 16th-ranked Stetson posted sweeps at each pairing but the fourth as Cutrie and Bucci fell 15-5 in the third set.

Up next: UNCW visits the College of Charleston on Mar. 20-21 for duals against the host Cougars, Coastal Carolina and Jacksonville.
