WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Junior Jada Santiago tallied four hits and scored two runs as UNCW opened Colonial Athletic Association play by sweeping a doubleheader against the College of Charleston at Boseman Field on Saturday afternoon.

The Seahawks, who ran their record to 5-13 overall and 2-0 in the CAA, took the first game by a 6-3 margin before posting a 2-1 victory in the nightcap. Charleston stands 3-16 overall and 0-2 in the league.

Santiago posted a pair of two-hit performances to anchor the Seahawks' 12-hit attack. She went 2-for-2 in the opener with two runs batted in before going 2-for-3 in the nightcap with a run scored.

Graduate student Rylee Pate and sophomore Amberlyn Pearce posted a pair of complete-game efforts in the circle for UNCW. Pate earned her first win of the season after allowing three runs on eight hits with two strikeouts in the opener. Pearce, meanwhile, upped her record to 2-4 after scattering four hits with one run allowed and one strikeout.
