Volleyball Drops CAA Match To JMU

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Led by four players in double-digit kills, James Madison finished off a Colonial Athletic Association series sweep of UNCW with a 3-1 win on Saturday at Hanover Hall.

The Dukes improved to 3-1 with the win and 2-0 in the league. The Seahawks, meanwhile, dipped to 0-4 and 0-2.

Chloe Wilmouth paced the Dukes with a match-high 17 kills followed by Miette Veldman with 15 and a .324 hitting average. Sophia Davis and Elizabeth Helmich chipped in 12 apiece as the Dukes finished with a .255 hitting average.

Kirsten Badowski led UNCW with 12 kills. Setter Brynn Montgomery had 27 assists and led UNCW with 14 digs.

Caroline Dozier of JMU handed out 51 assists and rounded out a double-double with 12 digs.

UNCW captured the first set, 25-19, but dropped the next three.

The Seahawks visit Old Dominion on Mar. 3 for a 5 p.m. start.
