WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina – No. 25 Wake Forest used a goal in each half to remain unbeaten and hand UNCW a 2-0 loss in non-conference women's soccer action at Spry Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The win elevated the Demon Deacons' record to 5-0-1 on the season while the Seahawks dropped to 3-2-0 on the year after their second straight loss.
Wake Forest claimed a 1-0 lead just before the end of the first half when junior Hannah Betfort sent a through pass to graduate student Hayley Younginer, who slipped a quick shot past junior
Sydney Schneider for her second goal of the season.
Redshirt sophomore Hulda Arnarsdottir added to the Demon Deacons' lead in the 72nd minute when she scored her second goal of the year off assists from junior Ryanne Brown and senior Madison Hammond.
