Seahawks Win It In 11 Innings, 8-6

Weiss drives in go-head run with two-out double

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Cole Weiss delivered a run-scoring double with two out in the top of the 11th inning as UNCW knocked off Northeastern, 8-6, in game one of the Colonial Athletic Association championship tournament on Wednesday at Veterans Memorial Park.

The Seahawks improved to 29-28 with the extra inning win while the Huskies dipped to 26-28.

Weiss, who also drove in the first run of the game, finished with two hits and scored twice. Kep Brown and Doug Angeli added three hits apiece. Brown drove in two runs and belted his eighth homer of the season. Angeli, meanwhile, knocked in three runs, including two in a three-run fifth inning.

The top of the Seahawk lineup combined for 10 hits and scored all eight runs.

John Farrell led NU with three hits and finished a double shy of hitting for the cycle. His two-run homer in the bottom of the first tied the game.

Corey DiLoreto and Ian Fair chipped in two hits apiece.

Blake Morgan (4-2) earned the win out of the bullpen, allowing a hit over three innings.
Reliever Brandon Dufault (1-2) took the loss despite 5.2 innings of one-run baseball.
