HARRISONBURG, Virginia – Senior
Hannah Adamczyk hit her fourth home run of the season, but it was not enough as No. 20 James Madison completed a three-game Colonial Athletic Association softball sweep against UNCW with a 12-2 victory over the Seahawks at Veterans Memorial Park on Sunday afternoon.
The win elevated James Madison's record to 31-7 overall and 11-1 in the CAA while UNCW dropped to 22-21 overall with a 4-8 mark in the circuit.
Sophomore Sara Jubas and junior Odicci Alexander each collected two hits to pace the Dukes' 11-hit attack, which featured four extra-base hits. Alexander also earned the win in the circle after allowing two runs on four hits in a complete game victory.
Adamczyk blasted a two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning for the Seahawks, who lost for the sixth time in the last seven games.
How It Happened: James Madison used three home runs, including a grand slam by Roadcap, and a pair of six-run innings to build a 12-0 lead and never looked back. The Seahawks ended the shutout bid with Adamczyk's two-run home run in the fifth frame.
Up Next: The Seahawks continue their eight-game road swing on Tuesday, Apr. 16, with a 7 p.m. non-conference game at Coastal Carolina.
