WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW used a balanced hitting attack and two solid efforts in the pitching circle to earn a pair of victories over Lehigh and North Carolina A&T to close out the Courtyard by Marriott Seahawk Softball Classic at Boseman Field on Sunday afternoon.
The Seahawks, who evened their record at 9-9 on the season, blanked the Mountain Hawks by a 3-0 count in the opener before posting a 9-1 triumph over North Carolina A&T in the final game of the tournament.
Freshman
Jada Santiago and sophomore
Carson Shaner each collected two hits and scored twice while freshman
Janel Gamache drove in three runs in the twinbill.
Senior
Haley Lenderman and junior
Rylee Pate combined to allow just one run on six hits in the doubleheader sweep. Lenderman authored her first win of the season with a three-hit shutout against Lehigh while Pate upped her record to 5-3 after giving up one run on three hits in the win over the Aggies.

Dominique Travers and a Gamache sacrifice fly before Shaner blasted a solo home run in the sixth inning for a 3-0 lead. Lenderman, meanwhile, did not allow a hit until the sixth inning en route to her third career solo shutout.
