Volleyball Falls In Season Finale

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW's season came to an end on Sunday as the Seahawks fell in four sets (22-25, 16-25, 18-25, 25-22) to the College of Charleston at Hanover Hall.

The Seahawks end their 11th season under the direction of Head Coach Amy Bambenek at 14-15 overall and 4-12 in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Cougars also finished with a 4-12 mark in conference play and rose to 7-21 in their season finale.

UNCW senior Madison Peters and Kendall Bender finished with 15 and 13 kills, respectively.

CofC's Lauren Freed recorded a double-double of 13 kills and 18 digs and was one of four Cougars to reach double digits in kills. Mandy Napierala led the Cougars with 14 kills.

The Seahawks jumped in front winning the first set, 25-22, behind five service aces. But Charleston regrouped to win the next two sets, leading from wire-to-wire in both.

With the loss, the Seahawks were eliminated from earning a second straight CAA tournament appearance.
