Early Run Pushes Tribe Past Seahawks

WILLIAMSBURG, Virginia – Senior guard Bianca Boggs scored a game-high 25 points as William & Mary posted a 70-64 victory over UNCW in Colonial Athletic Association women's basketball action at Kaplan Arena on Friday evening.

The Tribe, which won for the fourth time in the last five games, ran its record to 9-5 overall and 2-1 in the CAA. UNCW, meanwhile, saw an end to its three-game losing streak and fell to 8-5 overall with a 1-1 mark in the circuit.

Boggs, a Preseason All-CAA First Team selection, made 8-of-16 shots from the floor and converted 7-of-9 free throws while grabbing seven rebounds en route to her fourth straight game with 20 or more points.

Junior forward Victoria Reynolds added 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field and a 4-for-5 effort at the foul line while sophomore guard Nyla Pollard chipped in nine points with seven boards.

Redshirt senior guard Shrita Parker paced the Seahawks in the loss with 20 points, including a 12-for-13 showing at the charity stripe, while grabbing five rebounds. Junior guard Lacey Suggs contributed a season-high 17 points with seven rebounds while senior forward Chinyere Bell tallied a season-high 14 points after making 5-of-6 field goal attempts and all four of her free throws.

Key Moment: William & Mary overcame an early 12-2 deficit by exploding for 17 consecutive points over the final 5:30 of the first quarter to claim a 19-12 advantage the Tribe did not relinquish. Boggs scored eight of her 25 points to spark the outburst.

Up Next: UNCW completes its CAA weekend road swing on Sunday, Jan. 13, when they visit defending league champion Elon for a 2 p.m. matinee in the Seahawks' first visit to the Schar Center.
