Diamond Hawks Take Series From Tigers

UNCW scored four runs in the seventh and eighth innings to win the series on Sunday

WILMINGTON, N.C.Noah Liles' pinch-hit single in the seventh drove in the eventual winning run as UNCW plated four runs over the seventh and eighth innings for a 5-1 win over visiting Towson on Sunday at Brooks Field.

UNCW (24-15, 7-5 CAA) won its third conference series of the season and ended the weekend tied for third in the Colonial Athletic Association for third place. Towson (12-27, 5-7 CAA) is in seventh, one spot out of a conference tournament berth.

Seahawk reliever Austin Warren picked up the win to move to 5-0 on the season.

Offensively, Noah Bridges collected three hits and drove in two runs. Liles had two hits coming off the bench and Cole Weiss had two doubles and scored twice.
Towson's Michael Adams (3-4) took the loss. Adams surrendered four runs on eight hits and struck out seven over six innings.

No Tiger had a multi-hit game. Towson scored its lone run of the game in the first inning as Billy Lennox followed Colin Gimblet's two-out double with a RBI single one batter later.
