Hannah Adamczyk had five hits, including a pair of doubles, and drove in five runs as UNCW returned to its winning ways by sweeping a non-conference softball doubleheader at South Carolina State on Wednesday afternoon.

The Seahawks, who ended a five-game losing streak, upped their record to 9-17 on the season after defeating the Lady Bulldogs by scores of 12-1 and 9-0. South Carolina State dropped to 1-16 with the pair of setbacks.

Adamczyk paced the Seahawks' 17-hit attack by going 5-for-6 with a pair of runs scored. She went 2-for-2 in the opener with a pair of runs batted in before going 3-for-4 with three RBI.

Kali Jones each contributed a pair of hits.

Rylee Pate earned the win in the circle after allowing one run on one hit over 4.0 innings during the opener while junior
Haley Lenderman secured the victory in the nightcap after giving up one hit with four strikeouts over 4.0 innings.

How It Happened (Game 1): The Seahawks sent 13 hitters to the plate in the first inning, scoring eight runs on six hits. UNCW added three runs in the third inning and another run in the fourth inning before South Carolina State ended the shutout bid with a run in the bottom of the fourth.

How It Happened (Game 2): UNCW scored at least one run in four of its six trips to the plate, including a five-run outburst in the sixth inning that featured three hits and a pair of South Carolina State errors.

Up Next: UNCW returns home to continue its Colonial Athletic Association schedule this weekend by welcoming defending league champion James Madison for a three-game series. The Seahawks and the Dukes will play a doubleheader on Friday, Mar. 30, starting at 3 p.m. before finishing the set with a single game on Saturday, Mar. 31, at noon.
