AUBURN, Alabama – Junior third baseman
Hannah Adamczyk registered four hits, including a pair of doubles, and drove in two runs to help UNCW earn a split of its games against Western Illinois and No. 12 Auburn to open play at the Auburn Wilson/DeMarini Classic at Jane B. Moore Field on Friday afternoon.
The Seahawks, who saw their record move to 5-7 on the year, opened the doubleheader with a 3-2 victory over Western Illinois before dropping a 9-0 decision to the 12th-ranked Tigers.
Adamczyk, who finished the day going 4-for-6 at the plate, recorded all four of her hits in the win over Western Illinois. She gave UNCW a 2-0 lead in the third inning with a RBI double before driving in the game-winning run in the seventh inning on a single through the left side.
Junior outfielder
Lacey Fox added three hits for the Seahawks, going 2-for-3 at the plate against Western Illinois with a run scored and a run batted in before adding one of UNCW's three hits against Auburn.
Senior
Sarah Davis earned the win in the circle against Western Illinois, allowing two runs on six hits in a complete game effort. The Burlington, N.C., product upped her record to 2-3 on the season while posting five strikeouts.
