WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Redshirt senior guard
Shrita Parker led three UNCW players in double figures with a game-high 27 points as the Seahawks surged past Fayetteville State to earn a 72-54 non-conference victory over the Broncos inside Trask Coliseum on Saturday afternoon.

The win elevated the Seahawks' record to 5-2 on the season, including a perfect 4-0 mark at home. The game served as an exhibition for the NCAA Division II Broncos.

Parker, who authored her third 20-point game of the season, made 7-of-14 shots from the floor and was 12-for-15 from the charity stripe. The Virginia Beach, Va., product also added five assists and a career-high six steals.

Paige Powell chipped in her third double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Fayetteville State, which was playing its second game in a five-game road swing, was led by 17 points and six rebounds from junior guard Katisha Hyman while junior guard Shantel Bennett added 15 points.

Key Moment: The Seahawks sprinted out to a 15-6 lead in the game's opening six minutes and never looked back in earning the victory. UNCW led by as many as 24 points in the third quarter before Fayetteville State trimmed the margin to 13, but the Broncos were unable to get any closer.
