ELON, North Carolina – No. 13 UNCW used a pair of goals from junior
Phillip Goodrum to earn its fourth win in the last five games, a 2-0 Colonial Athletic Association victory over Elon at Rudd Field on Wednesday evening.
The win upped the Seahawks' record to 9-2-1 overall and 4-0-1 in the CAA while Elon dropped to 3-7-1 overall with a 0-4-1 mark in league play.
Goodrum, who posted his fourth career two-goal game, scored both of his goals in an 11-minute span to spearhead the victory. He converted a cross from freshman
Cesar Cruz for his first goal in the 40th minute before adding an insurance marker off a feed from senior
David Lozano just under six minutes into the second half.
Redshirt senior goalkeeper
Ryan Cretens registered three saves en route to his sixth solo shutout of the season.
Elon, which received two saves from senior goalkeeper Matthew Jegier, outshot the Seahawks by a 15-8 margin.
