TOWSON, Maryland – Sophomore forward Nukiya Mayo converted one of two free throws with three seconds remaining in regulation as Towson held off UNCW to claim a 72-71 Colonial Athletic Association victory inside SECU Arena on Friday evening.
Towson, which won its second straight game, upped its record to 7-9 overall and 2-3 in the CAA circuit. UNCW dropped to 7-9 overall with a 0-5 record against league foes.
Mayo, who registered her fourth double-double in the last five games, finished with a career-high 27 points while setting a new career high with 17 rebounds, including 14 on the offensive end.
Senior forward Mary Cuevas added a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds while redshirt senior guard Raine Bankston chipped in 12 points.

Madison Raque paced the Seahawks in the loss with a career-high 29 points off the bench, making 10-of-19 shots from the floor, including a 6-for-12 showing from three-point range.
Sophomore guard
Lacey Suggs added 21 points on 8-for-17 shooting from the field, marking her fifth 20-point game of the season.
Key Moment: After the Seahawks took a 71-69 lead on a pair of Raque free throws with 1:54 remaining, the Tigers tied the game on a lay-up by Bankston with 1:08 left. UNCW missed two shots from the field in the closing minute before Mayo sank the first of two foul shots to give the Tigers a one-point edge.
