NEWARK, Delaware – UNCW sophomores
Anna Hessenthaler and
Hannah Adamczyk each collected two hits, but Delaware used an early run to edge the Seahawks, 1-0, in the regular season finale for both teams at UD Softball Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Blue Hens, who secured a berth in the CAA Tournament with the victory, improved to 23-27 overall and 10-11 in the CAA. UNCW dips to 31-16-1 on the season while finishing its CAA slate with a 10-10 mark.
Junior first baseman Mariah Kondravy drove in the game's only run in the first inning with a RBI single before junior Jordan Cargile limited UNCW to just seven hits while upping her record to 17-14. She also tallied a pair of strikeouts.
Hessenthaler and Adamczyk went 2-for-3 at the plate while senior
Nella Chamblee added a double.
Senior
Peyton Jordan took the loss after allowing one run on three hits. Jordan, who moved to 15-8 on the season, also fashioned three strikeouts.
Key Moment: Kondravy singled through the right side with one out in the first inning to drive in junior Leanna Gearhart, who opened the game with a triple.
