GREENSBORO, North Carolina – Sophomore
Anna Hessenthaler posted a pair of hits and drove in two runs as UNCW and North Carolina A&T played to a 4-4 tie in a non-conference contest at the Aggie Softball Complex on Wednesday afternoon.
The tie moved the Seahawks' record to 7-2-1 on the season while North Carolina A&T's record stands at 5-10-1.
Hessenthaler was the lone Seahawk to record a multi-hit game as UNCW outhit North Carolina A&T by a 7-6 margin. Senior
Nella Chamblee drove in a run with a single in the fifth inning.
How It Happened: UNCW took a 4-3 lead in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Chamblee before the Aggies evened the score in the bottom of the sixth inning. The game was called due to weather with one out in the seventh inning. Â Â Â Â
Coach Kristy Norton Says:Â "Poor performance teaches a lot, but how this team responds in just two days will say a lot. We had a lot of bad strikeouts today and pushed the panic button on defense during a one-inning span. I feel as if the team will grow from today's challenges."Â
