GREENVILLE, South Carolina – Senior forward Cierra Carter led four Furman players in double figures with a game-high 20 points as the Paladins remained unbeaten at home after edging UNCW, 76-71, at Timmons Arena on Sunday afternoon.
The win elevated the Paladins' record to 5-1 on the season, including a perfect 5-0 mark at home, while the Seahawks saw their record fall to 3-3.
Carter, who finished the game shooting 5-of-11 from the field along with a perfect 7-for-7 showing at the foul line, posted her third 20-point performance in the last four games while also reaching the 1,000-point mark for her career.
Sophomore guard Le'Jzae Davidson added 16 points for the Paladins after knocking down 4-of-9 three-point field goals in addition to all four of her free throws while senior guard Stephanie Oramas added 14 points with five rebounds and seven assists.
Redshirt senior forward DeAnneisha Jackson contributed 14 points, making 7-of-11 shots from the floor to go with six rebounds.

Rebekah Banks posted a career-high 17 points with nine rebounds.

Key Moment: Carter scored 13 of her 20 points in the opening 20 minutes as Furman surged to a 43-29 lead at the intermission. The Paladins, who never trailed in the contest, extended their advantage to as many as 22 points in the second half before UNCW put together a late surge to close within 75-71 with 44 seconds remaining.
