WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Two basketball programs that have squared off for seven decades tangle again Saturday night when UNCW battles Campbell for the 103rd time overall and the 26th occasion at Trask Coliseum.

Both clubs have split their first two outings of 2017-18 and are looking to gain some momentum in the early part of the season.

The Seahawks are coming off a 108-81 loss at Davidson on Tuesday that saw Wildcat senior Peyton Aldridge erupt for 37 points – the most ever by a UNCW opponent – as the hosts shot 56.5 percent from the floor at John M. Belk Arena.

"I liked our pace offensively," said first-year UNCW Head Coach C.B. McGrath. "We did a lot of things and everybody adjusted well – they just adjusted better. When you have an experienced bunch like they have, they know exactly what they're supposed to do. I was pleased with how we made some adjustments.

"We'll get some positives out of the game. Davidson's a good team and played very well. Our guys were prepared, but it's a different type of system. Their style is different and you don't see it very often. The score didn't look that close, but the mistakes were little."

Junior forward Devontae Cacok continued to show why he's one of the top players in the Colonial Athletic Association. The preseason All-CAA pick has posted double-doubles in each of UNCW's first two games and is averaging a robust 21.5 points and 16.5 rebounds each contest.

Senior point guard Jordon Talley is also off to a great start, averaging 18.5 points and 8.5 assists per outing. The Richmond, Va., product has canned 13-of-18 field goals and 6-of-9 from deep in his first two appearances of the new season.

"Jordon and Devontae have played terrific," said McGrath. "Jordon's had 24 points and five assists and 13 points and 12 assists in the first two games. That's exactly what I want a floor general to be doing. And Devontae has been producing."

As a team, the Seahawks are shooting 48.9 percent through two games and averaging 93.0 points on the scoreboard.

McGrath and his club will face another outstanding scorer in Campbell's Chris Clemmons, who is averaging 33.0 points after two outings. The 5-9, 180-pound junior pumped in a whopping 39 points on 12-of-29 shooting in a season-opening loss at Penn State and followed with 27 points in Monday's 108-44 romp over Columbia International.

McGrath said, "I've never scouted them and never played them. I know they have a little guy that takes a lot of shots. He's the focal point of their offense. We'll have to make some minor adjustments, but I don't want to change our style every game. We have to stick with what we do and know the personnel."

The Seahawks have dominated the series at Trask Coliseum by a lopsided 23-2 margin. UNCW has reeled off eight straight over the Camels in Wilmington since Campbell won 62-58 on Feb. 13, 1992. The Seahawks cleared the century mark, 106-83, in the last meeting at Trask Coliseum on Dec. 28, 2015.

"We're not going to change what we're doing," McGrath continued. "We're just going to improve on what we have been doing and make sure we're progressing every day where we need to be at the end of the year."

Following Saturday's matchup with the Camels, the Seahawks begin preparations for the first of two in-season tournaments. UNCW is set to spend the Thanksgiving holiday in Savannah, Ga., where the team will play Loyola, Ill., on Friday at 5 p.m. and Valparaiso on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the Savannah Invitational.
