Volleyball Closes Out Season With Win Over Phoenix

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Maddy Kline tied her season-high with 17 kills and Sydney brock added 13 as UNCW topped visiting Elon, 3-1 (25-21, 26-28, 25-20, 25-21) on Sunday, but came up short in qualifying for the Colonial Athletic Association tournament despite the win.

The Seahawks (11-17, 5-11 CAA) needed a sweep of the Phoenix (16-15, 5-11 CAA) to earn the final berth in next week's championship tournament.

The Seahawks hit .243 on the afternoon as Brock, a senior playing her final match for UNCW, hit a match-high .367 while sophomore Kendall Bender hit .304 (8-1-23). Bender also added seven blocks as UNCW posted a 12.5-7 block advantage.

Sydney Busa and Kam Terry finished with 17 and 15 kills, respectively for the Phoenix, who qualified for the CAA tournament the first time.

Maddie Jaudon of Elon led all players with 28 digs while setter Kodi Garcia doled out 43 assists.
