Volleyhawks Suffer Sweep At Hands of Elon

ELON, North Carolina – Sophomore Madison Peters had nine kills and no attack errors for UNCW, but Elon dealt the Seahawks their first sweep loss of the Colonial Athletic Association season on Sunday at Alumni Gym.

The Phoenix strengthened their hold on the final conference tournament berth with the win at 3-5 in the league and 14-9 overall. UNCW fell to 7-13 on the season and 1-7 in the conference with the road loss.

Peters finished with a match-high .643 hitting average while adding two blocks and three digs.

Elon's Sydney Busa powered the Phoenix offense with 18 kills and finished off a double-double with 14 digs. Teammate Maddie Jaudon also finished with 14  digs while Kam Terry's 12 digs were part of a double-double that included 12 kills.

The third set saw nine tied scores and three lead changes before Elon was able to finish off the sweep.

The Seahawks open a span of three matches over the course of four days with a 7 p.m. start on Oct. 19 against Northeastern.
