Seahawks Battle to Scoreless Draw at Wake Forest

WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina – Sophomore goalkeeper Ryan Cretens and freshman goalkeeper Jacob Braham combined to make six saves as UNCW posted a scoreless draw at No. 5 Wake Forest in an exhibition game at Spry Stadium on Saturday evening.

"It was pleasing that we had another shutout as we prepare for Campbell," Coach Aidan Heaney said. "Wake Forest is obviously a talented team, but saying that, we have room for improvement. It was really a tale of two halves and I was happy with some of the individual performances. It shows we have depth in our squad."

Cretens made three saves in 69 minutes before being replaced by Braham, who made three saves in the final 21 minutes.

Freshman goalkeepers Andreu Cases Mondet and Kyle Barkett combined for four saves for Wake Forest, which outshot UNCW by a 14-10 margin.

The Seahawks, who finish the exhibition schedule with a 1-0-1 record, open the regular season on Friday, Aug. 26, at Campbell at 7 p.m.
