TOWSON, Maryland – Junior shortstop
Lauren Moore had two hits, including a home run, and drove in three runs, but it was not enough as Towson swept a Colonial Athletic Association doubleheader over UNCW in the regular season finale for both teams at the Towson Softball Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers, who secured a berth in the CAA Tournament with the doubleheader sweep, rallied to win the first game by a 6-5 margin before posting an 8-2 triumph in the nightcap.
The wins allowed Towson to secure the second seed in the five-team field while upping their record to 35-15 overall and 11-8 in the CAA. UNCW, meanwhile, was eliminated from CAA Tournament consideration after dropping to 29-21 on the year with an 8-10 league record.
Freshman
Nicole Stockinger paced Towson by going 4-for-7 with two runs scored while three other players added three-hit efforts in the twinbill.
Sophomore infielder
Kelsey Bryan led the Seahawks with three hits in the doubleheader with a pair of runs batted in while four players, including Moore, contributed a pair of hits.
