CHARLESTON, South Carolina – Seniors Jackie Luna-Castro and Shannon Hines combined to score 39 points as College of Charleston earned a 68-24 Colonial Athletic Association victory over UNCW at TD Arena on Wednesday evening.
 
The Cougars, who earned their first win since a 49-46 triumph over Drexel on Feb. 7, improved to 10-18 overall and 5-12 in the CAA. Meanwhile, the Seahawks dropped to 7-22 overall and 3-15 in the CAA.
 
Luna-Castro, who finished with a game-high 23 points, made 10 of 13 shots from the floor, including both of her three-point tries, and also added five rebounds. Hines shot 7-for-13 from the field to finish with 16 points while contributing six rebounds.
 
Junior guard Jasmine Steele led UNCW with six points while junior forward Jordan Henry tallied a game-high 10 rebounds, including six on the offensive end.
 
How It Happened: Luna-Castro scored six of her points in the opening period as Charleston surged to an 18-4 lead and never looked back. The Seahawks narrowed the margin to 34-15 at the intermission, but the Cougars limited UNCW to just nine points after the intermission.   
 
#SeahawkStats: Charleston earned the regular season sweep over the Seahawks for the second time in the last three years ... The all-time series is now even at 9-9 … UNCW dropped its seventh straight game to close out the regular season … CofC outrebounded UNCW by a 44-34 margin … The Seahawks committed a season-low six personal fouls, marking the fewest by UNCW in a game since Jan. 23, 2014 against William & Mary … Henry posted her 12th double-digit rebounding effort of the season … She also posted a pair of blocked shots, upping her team-high total to 45 on the season … Henry's 45 blocked shots are the eighth-highest single-season total in program history.
