North Florida Edges UNCW, 3-2, On 11th Inning Homer

JACKSONVILLE, Florida – Chris Thibideau connected on a two-run homer with one out in the bottom of the 11th to lift North Florida to a 3-2 win over visiting UNCW at Harmon Stadium on Friday.

The Ospreys halted a three-game losing skid with the win and improved to 7-8. UNCW, meanwhile, dropped to 9-3 overall and 0-2 on the road.

The homer to left center was Thibideau's fourth hiT on the night and gave UNF its first one-run win of the season after suffering seven one-run sets backs already. Nick Karmeris and Patrick Ervin added two hits apiece.

The Seahawks entered the game second nationally in runs per game but were held to a season-low tying two runs and seven hits.

Reliever Jared Gesell (0-1) took the loss despite a strong outing. He struck out four and allowed two runs on four hits and a walk in three innings of work.

UNF reliever Daniel Moritz (1-0) picked up the win, retiring both batters he faced.

Both starters pitched into the eighth inning with Ryan Foster allowing an unearned run on eight hits over 7.1 innings. For the Ospreys, Bryan Baker went a career-long 7.2 innings and allowed an unearned run on six hits.
