Volleyhawks Whip Tribe In Home Sweep

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW halted a four-match losing skid with a sweep (25-13, 25-18, 25-15) of visiting William & Mary as freshman Madison Peters' eight kills led five Seahawks with at least six kills on Friday at Hanover Hall.

The Seahawks raised their record to 15-10 overall and 5-8 in the CAA as they continue to chase a conference tournament berth. The Tribe, which dropped its seventh straight outing, fell to 8-10 and 2-11.

Peters led the Seahawks for the first time this season with her eight kills in 13 attacks for a .538 hitting average. Adding seven kills apiece were Maddy Kline and Nicole Lott. Lott also finished with six digs to move to within five of 1,000 career digs.

W&M's Sydney Biniak held match-high honors with nine kills, but the Tribe finished with a hitting average of .077, second lowest mark on the season.
Sara Zumbach and Gabrielle Pe both collected nine digs for the Tribe while UNCW's Sydney Alvis led all players with 10.

How it happened: UNCW overpowered W&M, out-hitting the Tribe, .306-.077, and posting eight service aces, including three apiece by Lott and Kline. W&M committed 22 hitting errors.

Notes: UNCW hit over .300 for the first time since Sept. 9 in a win over Indiana State and just the second time on the season … Alyssa Desjardins had 17 assists for the Seahawks while Bella Borgiotti added 14 … At the net, Lott had four blocks as UNCW posted an 8-3 advantage … The Seahawks have won eight of the last nine outings with the Tribe.
