Lott Posts Fifth Double-Double In VolleyHawk Sweep


WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Nicole Lott recorded her fifth double-double of the season with a team-high 10 kills and 12 digs as UNCW rolled past UMES, 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-13) on Saturday at the Courtyard by Marriott Classic at Hanover Hall.

The Seahawks improved to 8-3 with the non-conference home win while UMEs dropped to 10-2, having lost its last two matches after opening the season with 10 straight wins.

Kristen Powell added nine kills and Anna Moss had seven as UNCW hit .257 on the match. Alyssa Desjardins had 21 assists and five digs for the Seahawks.

 Zuzana Ondruskova paced UMES with 13 kills and added six digs. Setter Petra Jerabkova had 24 assists and libero Andjela Relic held match-high honors with 15 digs.

The Seahawks built a 9-5 advantage in blocks led by Moss, Meredith Peacock and Powell with four blocks assists apiece.

How it happened: UNCW out hit the Hawks, .281-.075 in the opening set and then used it blocking late in the second set as Moss and Powell had three block assists each. In the final set, UNCW held UMES in check, forcing the Hawks to hit -.059 for the set.

Notes: UNCW has won back-to-back matches since dropping two-in-a-row … 13 Seahawks saw action in the match … Seven players had blocks for UNCW … The Seahawks improved to 4-0 all-time against UMES (Maryland Eastern Shore) … UNCW Head Coach Amy Bambenek now has 92 career wins with the program … UNCW and Stetson close out the tournament with a 7:30 p.m. start Saturday.
