George Diab Sports Medicine Center

The prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of sports related injuries to UNCW student-athletes is performed in the George Diab Sports Medicine Center, located in Trask Coliseum. This facility is one of two Sports Medicine Centers located on campus.

The Diab Center, named for longtime friends and supporters George and Kitty Diab, opened in the spring of 1993. It features the latest in acoustical, electrical, and hydrotherapy treatment modalities. The room also contains several essential rehabilitation machines.

Under the direction of certified athletic trainers Scott Hill, Julie Francis, Stacy Downar, Danielle Cotellessa, Catherine Lenhardt, Zach Mishoe, Matt Parker and Drew Moore, the 1,732-square foot center serves students athletes on a daily basis.

The athletic training staff is responsible for educating student-athletes on injury prevention techniques. The atmosphere also provides athletic training students an opportunity to gain knowledge and hands-on experience within an accredited undergraduate program.
