Women's Basketball Preview: Winthrop

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW women's basketball team begins a four-game road swing on Wednesday when travels to Winthrop for a 6 p.m. contest at Winthrop Coliseum.

SERIES INFO
The two teams have split six games in the all-time series dating back to the 1995-96 season. The Seahawks have won three of the last four matchups, including a 79-61 win in Wilmington last December.

LAST TIME OUT
Freshman guard Taylor Henderson delivered the highest-scoring output of her career and of any Seahawk this season with 26 points in Sunday's 73-59 setback to Coastal Carolina. The Charlotte, N.C., native also contributed six rebounds and four steals.

Henderson and freshman guard Kylah Silver have each led UNCW in scoring twice this season and both have averaged over 12.0 ppg. Center Lexi Jackson, meanwhile, has paced the Seahawks in rebounding in all five games.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Winthrop took two of three games last week, including a neutral site split with a loss against Texas A&M and win against San Jose State at the California Berkeley Tournament. The Eagles will play the first of three straight home games.

Winthrop has three players averaging eight or more points: Leonor Paisana (8.7 ppg), Jada Ryce (8.6 ppg) and Ronaltha Marc (8.0 ppg). The Eagles' top rebounder is junior forward Marissa Gasaway (10.1 rpg).
