UNCW, McShea Set Records In Taking Tournament Leads

WALLACE, N.C. – UNCW senior Blake McShea continued his stellar play on Monday with two solid rounds to lead the Seahawk Intercollegiate through 36 holes at the River Landing Golf Course.

The Seahawks lead the 10-team field by 12 strokes over Wright State entering Tuesday's final round. The Raiders are followed by James Madison, Francis Marion and Lipscomb to round out the top five.

McShea, who finished tied for fourth last week at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate, opened the tournament with a career-low-tying 65 and capped the day with a three-under-par 69 in the second round. He leads Hunter Fry of USC Upstate by two strokes.

Several records fell on Monday as UNCW's second round 271 eclipsed the previous mark of 273, set by South Carolina in 2014. Also falling was the two-round score record of 560, also set by South Carolina in 2010, as UNCW combined to card a score of 553.

Joining front-runner McShea in the top-10 for UNCW are sophomores Drew Hackett and red-shirt sophomore Lansdon Robbins, in third and seventh, respectively.

Hackett carded a six-under-par 66 in the second round to move into the top three.

The final mark to fall was the individual two-round score of 137, last equaled by Duke's Matt Oshrine in 2016. McShea's two-round total of 134 is the new standard.

UNCW's lineup combined for tournament-best 47 birdies in the first two rounds.

The third and final round tees off at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday.
