JACKSONVILLE, Fla.
- Senior Carly Tanner won both the 50 and 100 Freestyles for the Seahawks, but
UNCW dropped a 129-109 decision to North Florida in women's swimming and diving
action on Friday at the UNF Aquatics Center.
Tanner, who owns the top time in the 50 Freestyle in the
Colonial Athletic Association, posted a time of 24.32 in her first action of
the spring portion of the 2012-13 schedule. She also recorded a winning time of
53.60 in winning the 100 Free and swam the leadoff leg of the Seahawks' winning
200 Freestyle Relay squad that included Miller, Sears and sophomore Chelsea
Tomko.
Also winning individual events for the Seahawks were
sophomore Hannah Stephenson (200 Backstroke), senior Rachel Wilson (500 Free)
and freshman Jenson Engen (200 Breaststroke).
UNCW opened the meet with a win in the 200 Medley Relay as
Stephenson, Engen, Rachel Sears and Nicole Miller won with a time of 1:48.90.
The Seahawks return to competition on Jan. 19 at Wingate.
