Dean Berman became the first diver inducted into the UNCW Athletic Hall of Fame during ceremonies on Feb. 22, 2014.
A native of Matthews, N.C., Berman was a four-time team MVP from 2003-06 and enjoyed tremendous success in the Colonial Athletic Association during his spectacular career.
He earned CAA Diver-of-the-Meet honors after winning the 1-meter and 3-meter titles in 2005 and 2006 and was selected CAA Diver-of-the-Year both seasons. He finished 11th on the 1-meter and 12th on the 3-meter board at the 2006 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships.
The talented performer helped the Seahawks capture four consecutive CAA championships and collected Honorable Mention All-American accolades in 2005 and 2006. Berman still owns all three of the program’s diving records on the 1-meter (6 dives/375.15), 3-meter (6 dives/400.35) and 3-meter (11 dives/595.40) boards.
A 2006 graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Berman was named to the CAA’s Silver Anniversary Team for men’s swimming and diving in 2009.
