One of the all-time greats in the swimming program’s history, Erdem left an indelible mark following a remarkable career from 1992-95.

A native of Ankara, Turkey, Erdem was a four-time conference champion in the 200 Backstroke and left as the school record holder in nine events. He still holds the record in the 100 Backstroke, 200 Backstroke, 400 Freestyle Relay and 400 Medley Relay.

Erdem earned the Sam O’Leary Outstanding Swimmer Award during his junior and senior years as the top performer in the men’s program. He also was singled out as the school’s top student-athlete for the 1995-96 school year as recipient of the Thomas V. Moseley Award following his senior year.

Erdem also ranks as the school’s only three-time Easterns champion, winning the 200 Individual Medley in 1993, the 100 Backstroke in 1995 and the 200 Backstroke in 1995. Moreover, Erdem was an NCAA “B” qualifier in the 200 Backstroke during the 1994 season.
