Biography

2015 (Junior): Posted 4-3 mark while making career-high 16 starts ... Tied for CAA lead with 16 starts ... Went a season-long 8.2 innings against Tulane at NCAA Baton Rouge Regional (5/31) ... Struck out career-high nine over 8.1 innings against Delaware (5/1) ... Led staff with 70 strikeouts in 78 innings ... Ranked fifth in CAA in strikeouts ... UNCW had 21-4 record in games started by Monroe.

2014 (Sophomore): Made 16 appearances on the mound, including seven  starts … Also made eight starts at the designated hitter position … CAA Pitcher-of-the-Week (2/25) … Belted first career homer against Liberty (2/22) … Tossed complete game, one-hitter against Liberty (2/23) … Carried perfect game into the ninth before surrendering a one-out single … Faced the minimum (27 batters) when he ended the game with a double play … Struck out four in that game … Took loss against Indiana State (3/15) despite allowing just two runs over eight innings … Held Northeastern (5/16)  scoreless on two hits over four innings of relief.

2013 (Freshman): Made 11 appearances on the mound, including one start (5/14 at Coastal Carolina) … Fanned season-high two on two occasions … Only decision of season was loss at Coastal Carolina … Also drove in a run in lone pinch-hitting appearance of season against Gardner-Webb (3/3).

At Eastern Alamance: Four-year starter for Eagles and coach Randy Ballard ... Team MVP his senior year … Helped Eagles to 22-7 record as a senior … Hurled no-hitter in Regional championship his final season … Helped Eagles to Mid-State Conference title in 2011 ... All-State selection at 3A level in 2011 and 2012 ... All-Mid-State Conference selection in 2010 and 2011 ... Mid-State Conference Player-of-the-Year in 2011 and 2012 ... Two-way player for Eagles ... As a senior, hit .460 with four homers and 28 RBI … Compiled 11-2 record and struck out 129 batters in 2012 … Hit .422 with two home runs and knocked in 24 runs while posting 10-1 mark and posting 1.19 ERA in 2010 ... Followed that with 10 homers and .546 batting average in 2011 ... Also went 7-1 and recorded 2.38 ERA ... Fanned 89 in 71 innings in 2011 ... For his prep career, fashioned 35-8 record, struck out 387 batters, hit 20 homers and knocked in 96 runs … Also played basketball for Eastern Alamance.
