Women's Golf Wins Golfweek Fall Challenge

PAWLEYS ISLAND, South Carolina – The UNCW women's golf team fashioned a 288-290-284=862 tournament score to win the Golfweek Fall Challenge at the Caledonia Golf and Fish Club on Tuesday afternoon.

The Seahawks finished one stroke ahead of Lipscomb to top the 18-team field in their 2023-24 season opener.

Fifth year Mallory Fobes fashioned a two-under-par 69 in the third round to claim individual medalist honors while teammate Victoria Levy tied for second with a five-under par 66 in the final round on Tuesday.

Fobes, a 2022 NCAA Regional participant, matched the three-day tournament lead with 13 birds. Levy, meanwhile, was one of eight golfers among the 101 players who authored an Eagle, which she achieved on Hole No. 15 in the third round.

UNCW's Annika Saidleman and Malu Brinker, who played as an individual, rounded out the Seahawks in the Top 30 with each earning a share of 28th place.

The tournament victory is the first for UNCW since it won the 2023 River Landing Classic last March in Wallace, N.C. It also represents the first collegiate tournament victory of Fobes' career.

The Seahawks next play in the Furman Paladin Invitational from Sept. 22-24 in Greenville, S.C.
