Rebekah Banks has been named as the winner of the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete-of-the-Year Award. Â

Banks, a native of Durham, N.C., is the third UNCW women's basketball player to earn the league's Scholar-Athlete-of-the-Year award, joining Cherie Lea (2004) and Michaela Vezenkova (2006).

A double major in economics and business administration with a minor in Spanish, Banks boasts a 3.96 grade point average and has earned Dean's List honors seven times in her career. She is a two-time selection to the CAA's All-Academic Team and has received the Commissioner's Academic Award three times.

A four-year letter winner for the Seahawks, Banks has started 76-of-104 games in her career and ranks seventh in school history with 706 career rebounds. She is also sixth on the program's all-time list with 88 blocked shots while contributing 475 points.

Banks, a starter in all 29 games this season, ranks fifth in the CAA by averaging 7.9 rebounds per game. She has recorded 11 double-digit rebounding efforts, including a pair of 15-rebound outings against Northeastern on Jan. 5 and at Towson on Jan. 12, which matched her career high.
