Corey Dick, UNCW seniorWith the season just around the corner, we'll take a look at the UNCW baseball program and the players who make up the roster.

Corey Dick battled through a knee injury last season and still led the Seahawks with a .315 batting average and six home runs. Corey enters the 2015 season fully recovered and looking to lead the Seahawks back to the NCAA tournament, a destination he reached twice in his first two seasons with the program.

The Seahawks open the 2015 season with Richmond on Feb. 13, as part of the Buffalo Wild Wings Battle at the Beach Classic.
UNCWSPORTS.COM: Why did you choose to attend UNCW?
CD: The baseball tradition, pride within the program, location at the beach and an awesome community.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: Describe a moment when you felt the most Seahawk pride.
CD: Defeating #1-ranked North Carolina in Chapel Hill and winning the CAA tournament title in 2012 after being punched in the mouth 6-0 early in the game.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: Take us through your pre-game mental preparation routine.
CD: Breakfast with family or team depending on where we are playing, listening to good music, focusing on a solid batting practice, pray.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: What are some community activities you or your team have done?
CD: I think I speak for the team when I say we love participating with the miracle league, I love to help give them a smile through a game we both love dearly.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: What is your intended or declared major and why did you choose that major?
CD: Rec and sports leadership and tourism management, I chose this major to get involved with sport related jobs.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: Describe your dream job
CD: Work under a minor league team, facility operations.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: Favorite team tradition/activity and why?
CD: A tradition started last year where we play a specific song in locker room after each win personalities come out and brings the team together after each victory.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: Which teammate will have the most interesting job in 10 years and why?
CD: I think with characters on this team anyone could have a very interesting job.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: What animal would best describe you and why?
CD: Apparently Winnie the Pooh, thank you Jordan Ramsey.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: What is your favorite quote or phrase?
CD: "Live life like a 3-1 count"- Baseballism.com
 
UNCWSPORTS.COM: What is your favorite type of food (i.e. Chinese, Mexican, Italian etc.)?
CD: Japanese

UNCWSPORTS.COM: Favorite place you have visited or traveled to and why?
CD: Savannah, Georgia, will always be close to my heart because of my fishing buddies which are my grandma and great grandma, our family lost them within a close time of each other and taught me what I know about fishing and crabbing.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: If you could sit down for lunch with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
CD: Chipper jones, I think we would have a lot in common from sports to hunting.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: Most addicting television show?
CD: Impractical Jokers

UNCWSPORTS.COM: How will you change the world (or even just one person's world)?
CD: I believe as a team we help change a person's life through the miracle league, they love to have us come out and in return they help change our lives as well.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: Tell us something about yourself that most people don't know.
CD: I had a piece of the tip of my left ring finger removed as a kid not much but it's gone

UNCWSPORTS.COM: What was your most-commented Facebook post about?
CD: Family photo, last one taken was '98-'99

UNCWSPORTS.COM: What is number one on your bucket list and why?
CD: Redskins game in Landover, Md., with my pops.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: What is your best non-athletic skill?
CD: Cooking

CD: Fake Ron Washington account use to have me laughing hard.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: What is your biggest pet peeve and why?
CD: People who do not change to the slow lane while driving, clogging up the fast lane.

CD: Spiders

UNCWSPORTS.COM: What is an obstacle you had to overcome in your life?
CD: Two torn ACLs (knee)
